Today, a new group was formed because Miss Wolstencroft found a snail when she arrived at school and brought it into the classroom. Some children were very interested and suggested that they look for more. As a result, a ‘snail’ group was formed and they went outside this afternoon to find out more…

See the very top of this page to find the new Snails Group page on the blue bar.

At hometime, Imaan wanted to share what she found out…

Today, we visited the school library to find books that might help us learn more about our chosen topic. We were able to find the right section of the library and scan out the books we wanted.

Our chosen titles were:

This half term, we are learning about the natural world.
Having already visited Roundhay Park and Tropical World, we all created paintings to show what we thought the natural world is.

Later, when discussing our ideas, we all decided on the main things we would like to learn about.

5 main groups were established from these. They are:

Bats and snakes

Butterflies

Flowers

Growing /Seeds

The farm

Everybody had to sign up to a group last week and we are now going to learn about these things.

There are NEW PAGES on the BLOG where everybody can write their thoughts, ideas and findings.

We would like to encourage grown ups to help us to write comments on the blog whether we are at home or in school.

HOW TO:

1. Go to the Reception home page.
2. Look at the very top on the blue bar.
3. Click to the groups you want to comment about.
4. Write a comment (only put your first name and make up an email…. for example… bp@bp.co.uk)

Happy blogging

We need to make a new role-play area in our classroom about the natural world.
We talked about what we could put in it…

I think we can put a frog in it. (Feezaan)

Butterflies (Muhammad)

I want to learn about flowers (Faiza)

We should put books in there about animals and fish and magnifying glasses to see the animals bigger. (Lamisah)

How about some frogs? (Amaad)

Can you tell us what you think the natural world is?

What do you think?

Today, we continued our fearless quest to find the dragon we believe is in our school.

After yesterday’s discussions, Mr Crowther the caretaker, checked the roof this morning and to our amazement, he reported that some tiles were missing and there were some holes. Strangely enough, some children had heard noises above us this morning and seen some tiny holes on the ceiling in the classroom!

When we went outside this afternoon, we checked near the ‘nest’ again and saw what looked like scratch marks on the shutter doors. We were shocked when Aqsa told us that she had found footprints in the mud too.
It was at this point that we noticed a steaming, gleaming pile of DRAGON POO! YUCK!

We have yet to check CCTV…watch this space…
